It is quite a piece of interactive art work, especially with its round shape. I find it quite relaxing. My grandson after visiting and trying it out wanted one also, so I gave one like mine to him for his birthday. My only suggestion to the artist/craftsman would be to try adding a few additional colors of sands to the sand art. But I enjoy it and the quality seems quite good.
I bought this because I had a more simple one as a youth. It's great to look at and watch, if you have patience. I'm not sure if cold air makes a difference in the rate the sand drops, but it seems to get stuck frequently. I may have to adjust the amount of air inside as the instructions state.
This is a really fun and constantly changing piece of art that most people can't help, but flip it over and watch. The different colors of sand and gold flakes are always layering differently and that is what makes it so interesting. Very seldom does someone not walk into the room and flip it over and watch. Sometimes it finishing quickly and sometimes it will be very slow in melting down to the bottom. It might end up looking like a mountain scene, or a flat, but layered scene with a gold layer on top. Beautiful and fun.
This moving sand art reminds me of the 70s favorite toy I owned. The Magic Window. I use this small circle one at my customer service desk. Coworkers admire it! My children visit often and frequently give this a turn!
